the rights of victims of terrorism

The association, S.O.S. Attentats
("attentats" means "terrorist attacks" in French),
was founded on January 24th 1986 by Françoise Rudetzki, General Delegate,
who, herself, was a victim of a terrorist attack in Paris on December 23rd 1983.

Since its foundation, S.O.S. ATTENTATS has looked after approximately 3000 people.

would like justice for all victims, without seeking revenge

Our Main Objectives :

The defense and the protection of the rights of all victims of terrorism

An end to impunity – nobody should be allowed to escape legal proceedings

Fighting State interest - too often put forward

Fighting terrorism using the legal system

S.O.S. ATTENTATS –the daily activities

We support the victims and the deceased victims’ families at each stage of the proceedings.

We accompany the victims during the legal procedures and common law cases.

According to section 2-9 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, S.O.S. Attentats is allowed to file claims for damages in criminal proceedings concerning terrorist acts.

We publish a brochure which informs the victims and their families of their rights.

We publish a newsletter "Voice of the Victims".

We fight against oblivion by organising an annual ceremony in memory of all the victims of terrorism.

We work towards the recognition and improvement of the rights of victims of terrorism, contribute to international ideas on better protection of the victims, regardless of their nationality or status, and participate in the fight against impunity.

S.O.S. ATTENTATS is the spokesperson for the victims when dealing with legal authorities.

Our association is a member of the following organisations :

The Board of Directors of the Guaranty Fund for victims of terrorist acts and other offences

The Board of Directors of the DC 10 Foundation

The National Consultative Commission on Human Rights

The Global Coalition for the International Criminal Court

The International Criminal Bar

S.O.S. ATTENTATS is a non-governmental organization

In consultative status with the ECOSOC (economic and social council of the UN)

In association with the United Nations Department of Public Information

S.O.S. ATTENTATS clearly states its opinion:

in favour of :

protecting the rights of victims of terrorism

equal rights for all victims regardless of their nationality or where the attack occured

an international legal solution to the problem of terrorism

against :

the death penalty


any kind of discrimination based on race, religion, political beliefs or other

Terrorism concerns everyone –its up to us to make a difference

Victims of terrorist acts and the families of the deceased victims of terrorism can join our association and become active members.

Each citizen, legal representative, company, group, union, association can support the actions carried out by S.O.S. Attentats for the good of the victims and to combat terrorism by subscribing to our association.
